This is a reading trying to connect with my 3x great grandma Delinda Fairchild.
2 of Cups: I believe this is showing me that we’re “birds of a feather” and have similar character. It’s two very different birds enjoying the same food and the same environment or ecosystem. Most interestingly, one bird is black, one bird is white; I am white and Delinda was black. A little on the nose, but it struck me.
King of Swords: She was a smart and clever woman and had an attitude of authority, a matriarch. The crow is perched on a grave with angel wings against a smoky background: a spirit who has passed on. There are 3 hourglasses: hourglasses normally represent time but I don’t know how it applies. They hold a fish, a heart, and a sword, which I perceive as the gut feeling, the emotions, and the mind working in harmony. Maybe she was intuitive, too?
4 of Pents Rv: I get a sense she was on the defensive a lot of her life. From the ONE vital record I found of her, she lived in rural New York, widowed, with a son and a chronic illness. Life had to be very tough for a Black woman in farm country raising a kid on her own while ill. I can easily see how she would be self-protective and guarded.
These traits have been passed down to every generation and I can see it in my uncles. It has been very difficult getting family stories, photos, etc. They don’t like to talk about their mom, and due to selfish choices their mom made, they were cut off from all extended family for the majority of their lives. They had their own trauma, and I think that self-protective trait is also what helped them make it through. I’ll probably never know grandma Delinda’s life, but using readings to make connections via intuition helps me feel closer.
